Our answer comes from ENABLE, a free word list first released in 1997 and used by many word games. Official Scrabble lists are separate and licensed: NWL in North America (the latest edition, NWL2023, took effect in February 2024) and Collins Scrabble Words elsewhere. They add and remove words over time, so a few short words differ between them and ENABLE.
