4 Pics 1 Word solver
Type the letters shown under the four pictures and choose how many boxes the answer has. The solver lists every word of that length you can build from those letters, most common first, so you only have to match a short list against the pictures. Add letters you've already revealed to narrow it further.

Worked example
The tiles read OZVCUIOKBEOA and the answer has 4 boxes. The solver finds 33 four-letter words in those letters; the 18 common ones are BACK, BOOK, VICE, CAVE, COOK, BIKE, COVE, BECK, BUCK, CAKE, CUBE, COKE and more. If the four pictures show a library shelf, a novel, a diary and a cookbook, BOOK is the obvious match. If you had revealed a K in the last box with a hint, ???K would cut the list to just the words ending in K.
How 4 Pics 1 Word works, and how the solver helps
Each puzzle shows four pictures that share one word, a row of empty boxes for the answer and a bank of letter tiles. The bank always holds more letters than the answer needs, so you have to work out which tiles belong to the word. Each tile can be used once.
- Type all the tiles in the bank, in any order (including the decoys).
- Choose the answer length from the number of boxes.
- Read the list from the top and check each word against all four pictures.
Tips for tricky puzzles
Look for what all four pictures share, not what each one shows. Answers are often a broader idea (a colour, an action, a material) rather than an object, and verbs and adjectives appear as often as nouns. If the pictures show running water, a river bank and a sink, try FLOW or WATER before TAP.
Think about different meanings of the same word. A puzzle with a baseball bat, a cave and a vampire is BAT; a bank building and a river bank is BANK. When the solver lists two or three common words of the right length, ask which one could name all four pictures at once.
Rare letters such as J, Q, X and Z in the bank are sometimes decoys and sometimes the key. Check whether any common word of the right length uses them; if none does, they are probably decoys.
Limits
The solver can't see the pictures, so it lists every word of the right length. The game also uses its own word list; ours is the public-domain ENABLE dictionary. Answers are everyday words, so the right one is almost always near the top.
Frequently asked questions
How do I find the answer length?
Count the empty boxes above the letter tiles. That number is the answer length; choose it in the Answer length menu.
Why are there several possible answers?
The letter bank always contains extra decoy letters, so more than one word can usually be built. The pictures decide which one is right; the most common words are listed first because puzzle answers are everyday words.
Can I add letters I already revealed with a hint?
Yes. Type the answer into Known letters with ? for the unknown boxes, for example B??K. Only words with those letters in those places are shown.
Does it give the answer for a level number?
No. We don't copy level answer lists. The solver works from the letters on your screen, so it works for every level and the daily puzzle.
